Change in the wind - new to Malifaux/Infinity

With all of the changes over the last year, along with the high number of different game systems my normal opponents at Wil's garage and I feel that we need to change it.

We found out that over the year we have played 10+ different game systems. This is way to many as none of us feel that we don't have the in-depth knowledge of any one/two systems.

So change was needed and with a meeting of the minds we have come up with a different change.

What we are doing is focusing on 2 main systems:

  • Malifaux
  • Infinity
These 2 were selected as they are both short games, with a lower buy in cost then most other games.

Since these 2 have been selected everything has selected different crews/factions from both Malifaux and infinity. I ended up with the Yu Jing from Infinity and Ten Thuders from Malifaux.

So prepare for new things for both to come once more models arrive these will be pictures of the army development, battle reports (Kind of), any new things that arrive.

Warpstorm 40k Event

Recently I have attended the Warpstorm event here in Wellington. Originally I was not able to attend both days, which change so I put forward to be a bye buster. Due to people pulling out I was able to step up and play both days.

I took what I deemed to be a fun-ish style list of Sisters, containing:

4 x 9 Sisters each with rhinos
2 x 5 dominion's with 2 melta guns each with a immolator with melta
3 x  Exorcists

The list worked like I expected with sisters just sitting on objectives. But killing things would be more difficult then I thought it would be.

First game against Cameron and a Vehicle heavy guard army.
Lucky for me I rolled the infiltrating perk to allowing me to close the gap quicker. I sat rhino's in the face of all of the vehicles and then due to a scatter Cameron did more damage to his own army then to mine.
As things were not going Cameron's way his Knight cut through the building to attempt to help out on the side that is falling apart. To which I did face his knight with mine, I managed to take off one wound before charging.

After a few rounds of combat my knight lived, nearly getting removed by the explosion that it just faced by the other knight.

This round ended in a 20 - 0 win for the sisters.

Round 2 was a kill point game against Glen with Deamons.
I didn't think that this would be an easy game as I couldn't deal with most of the stuff on the board.

I was able to get the knight across the board into the unit with the most kill points, however, this took to long to kill one unit which allowed the rest of Glen's army to kill most of my army.

At the end of the game I was happy to be able to get 6 points from the game.

Next game was against Dave and his grav army. My only hope was to stop Dave from scoring points, which as it was a mission that you got card up to the number of objectives that was held it was quite able to be done.

So that is what I did and by the end of the game even though I had nearly nothing left thanks to all of the grav I won the game. Giving me 13-7 even though all I killed was a centurion unit.

Next game was against Bryn and a combi-melta marine drop pod list..... oh yay me with tanks. So with no battle plan I sat on objectives and hope for some great cards.

This was not meant to be as everything was nearly shot off with me not killing much at all.

This was't a big loss though as I got 8 points out of the game which was much more then I thought I would get.

Last game was against Shane as his Eldar. Everything was faster then me with better saves, longer range and better in combat. The game went exactly how I thought it would with most of my army being removed.

And that is exactly what had occurred.

By the end of the game I was left with the Cannoness, a rhino and a squad of sisters they are on scoring objectives allowing me for a 11 - 9 win.

That was enough to put me into 7th place which was way more then I expected as all apart from one of my games I was nearly tabled.
Further to this I got best sport probably due to this.

Thanks guys for the games.

Blood in the Bad Lands - Season One Finished

At the end of the season Ryan arranged a siege battle, with some twists. From the campaign we had 8 players and 4 different missions. To start we had three missions that took play in the morning that leftovers from those missions feeding into the siege.

The way these were set up was that each player had 2000 points on the table at the start and 500 point side board that would come on at different times.

Nathan (Dwarfs)
Wil (Tomb Kings)
 Adam (Dwarfs)
Gareth (Ogres)

Rob (Orcs)
Ryan (Vampire Counts)
Sass (Ogres)
Greg (Dark Elves)

I will not do a full battle report for each game, just a brief description. There will be lots of photos for the siege.

Sabotage Mission - This mission had Wil's Tomb Kings trying to come up through a cave to sabotage the attacking force. On the way out of the cave Ryan's Vampire Counts were there to stop them. In the mouth of the cave there were many trolls and squigs lingering around.

The Tomb Kings had their full force available to bring to bear on the Vampires.

At the end of the mission the Vampire Lord was taken into a whole in the warp, this lead as a big loss for the attackers as it only left the 500 point side board for the vampires for the Siege. Where the tomb Kings most of the shooting left. The bonus that the defenders gained was in the siege it has the chance to remove some war machines.

Flank Assault Mission - Sass (Ogres) and Adam (Dwarfs). To be able to stop the reinforcement of the castle there was a flank assault. This was a watchtower style mission which I believe Sass won. (Not many photos were taken)

Breakthrough mission - Gareth (Ogres) Vs Greg's (Dark Elves). This was an underground assault that had the dark elves trying to break through the Ogres to help damage the castle. However, when the two armies collided there were many trolls and slayers in between. This really helped the Dark Elves as it meant that they could better pick the fights they wanted.

The Siege - This started with Rob (Orcs) attacking Nathan (Dwarfs). Turn 2 on wards the left overs from the other games would come on and reinforce their sides. The aim was to have the side board for the defender to attempt to come through the gate as this would deem the defenders to win.

In the end the outside dwarf unit managed to slingshot their way from fleeing and over running into the destroyed gate area, which meant the defenders had won.

It was a great day of gaming and the BBQ was fantastic.

With season one down we will take a break before continuing with a second one as we will have to transition to 9th age.
